THE POSITION
The Fire/EMS Department is seeking qualified applicants to fill a vacant Community Developer IV position, grade H-27.
The Community Developer IV is a senior level professional and administrative position whereby the incumbent performs a variety of advanced supervisory and managerial work in the Public Relations Office. The incumbent serves as the Press Information Officer (PIO)/Community Affairs Liaison; coordinates the Department’s public education activities and works closely with the Community Developers to carry out assignments.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Independently oversees the planning, development and implementation of programs and materials to support the Fire/EMS Department and the Fire Chief as the Chief Spokesperson/Public Information Officer and in the creation of a variety of fire safety/injury prevention programs; has knowledge of all EEOC laws, guidelines and regulations, and County policies and procedures with respect to equal employment, discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation; promotes the mission of the Department by interacting with members of the media and the community by participating in local events, community service activities, schools, civic associations, etc.; researches programs and identifies funding sources for Department programs and services; develops annual budget for the Public Relations Office; and designs a variety of printed material to be used as information that will be disseminated to the general public, as well as information that accurately reflects the programs and services that promote a positive public relations image.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Business/Public Administration, Social Services, Sociology, Psychology, or other closely related fields(s); plus three (3) years of progressively responsible professional, technical, analytical, and developmental work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience of the type required for this position will be considered. Fire Service and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) experience and background
Extensive experience handling media inquiries, coordinating press conferences and preparing media releases
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligibles which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
ELIGIBILITY TO WORK: Under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, an employer is required to hire only U.S. citizens and lawfully authorized alien workers. Applicants who are selected for employment will be required to show and verify authorization to work in the United States .

THE POSITION
The Prince George 's County Health Department is currently seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a vacant Social Worker IV, Grade A-27, position in the Division of Epidemiology and Disease Control HIV/AIDS Program. This is supervisory level professional and administrative work ensuring the oversight of the case management and counseling unit, using professional social work theories, methodologies practices and standards.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
The selected candidate provides professional support and serves as a designee in the absence of the Program Chief; serves on departmental and interagency boards, committees and taskforces; contributes to budget development and preparation providing narratives and statistical information; collects, analyzes and interprets program data; drafts annual reports; supervises and coordinates the activities of staff; performs personnel actions and conducts past performance appraisals; develops a quality assurance tracking system to ensure County’s compliance with County, grantor and vendor requirements; reviews and analyzes service delivery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university or equivalent program as determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work, with a Master's Degree in Social Work, plus three (3) years Post Masters experience providing social work services including two (2) years of lead/supervisory responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensure from the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners is required. Please provide a copy of your license or indicate the number on the County Application .
