DUTIES: Assistant Manager for Field Operations (AMFO): Responsible for the direct supervision of 10-15 Field Operations and Office Operations supervisors and the indirect supervision of approximately 400-600 crew leaders and enumerators, at peak operation, who work outside the ELCO/LCO. Incumbent is responsible for accomplishing production and quality goals in field operations under their span of control. Conducts individual and group training sessions for their personnel as necessary. Directly supervises the activities of Field Operations Supervisors. Determines assignment areas for data collection activities. Manages material and assignment preparation for all field operations in their control. Responsible for the activities of the entire field workforce and several office workers during all field operations under their control. Responsible for the completion of field work in a timely and cost efficient manner. Assures that specific levels of quality and progress of field operations are being met through analysis of various computer generated reports and observation. Takes necessary corrective action to achieve goals. Acts as the principal technical advisor on field operations in the ELCO/LCO, answering inquiries from the Office Manager, and Field Operations Supervisors. Responsible for the successful completion of all assigned field operations. Will supervise enumerators and or crew leaders, in smaller field operations, when no Crew Leader or Field Operations Supervisor is authorized.
QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for the Assistant Manager for Field Operations position, all applicants MUST:

Manna’s terrific Director of Food Collection will soon be pursuing new opportunities, so we are searching for someone absolutely wonderful to be Manna’s next Director of Food Collection. (The ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound and move faster than a speeding bullet is optional but desirable.)
Between you and me, what Manna needs is a person who is able to work as part of a close-knit, dedicated team of staff and volunteers; communicate with folks from all walks of life; juggle a heavy workload and a wide variety of tasks with grace, competence and humor; and find joy and satisfaction schlepping boxes in the morning, handling a tricky personnel issue before lunch, meeting with a faith-based organization over lunch, organizing a complicated food drive in the afternoon, and helping our county’s most vulnerable residents all day long.

Primary responsibilities include:
Managing the collection of three million pounds of food annually, nearly all of which is donated.
* Managing the recovery of food from grocery stores, wholesalers, gleaning networks, etc.
* Purchasing food as appropriate and within budget limitations.
* Working with corporations, faith-based organizations, community groups, schools, and individuals to conduct successful food drives.
* Recruiting new stakeholders to conduct food drives for Manna and nurturing current stakeholders to increase the amount of food collected.
* Organizing large community-wide food drives, including Yom Kippur, Scouting for Food, Ride-On, Kids Helping Kids, Letter Carriers, MSI, and others.
* Managing the storage of food, including maximizing space in the warehouse and ensuring that food is stored safely at the proper temperature and for the appropriate length of time
* Tracking and reporting on the inventory of perishable and non-perishable food
* Scheduling food pick-ups to maximize effectiveness and minimize cost to Manna.
* Supervising three drivers, two warehouse workers, and dozens of volunteers.
